Country Report: Romania
EAAF conducted two missions to Romania at the request of the International Human Rights Law Group to provide forensic assistance in the investigation of The Caciulati Case. Workers planting potatoes discovered human remains in the garden of the Ghica Palace , in Caciulati, about 40km north of Bucharest. Reportedly, the palace was used by Securitate, the secret police under the Communist regime, to interrogate and torture political prisoners. The delegation worked with local human rights organizations, and the Bucharest Attorney Office.
